i have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.
Very nice to see Billzfan23 and Jeremy C posting again.
Excellent post Jeremy.

this is for those of you who are familiar with my periodic rants about being married to a jehovah's witness.
you won't be seeing any more of them.. my wife and i were up before dawn on friday and spent the entire day on our boat, trolling 10 miles from shore and talking.
we talked about our lives together, the ground we've covered in the 40 years since we met as university freshmen.
Always love a positive thread.
All the best to you both.

...have a lot of appropriate lyrics given my current situation.
i coincidentally have been listening to a lot of their tracks lately, and started noticing that i identified with a lot of them.
"every day is exactly the same".
Pretty hard for an ex-JW NOT to relate to "Head Like A Hole" as an anthem of sorts.
I liked it a lot.
Also enjoyed Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt".

knowing that we are living deep in the time of the end, we keep focused on the main work of true christianspreaching and disciple making.
(matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20) like our exemplar, jesus, we want to be intensely occupied with this lifesaving work.
how can we show that this work is important to us?
mankkeli, do you have a source for this quote?
It's nice to have very recent quotes showing that it's a "lifesaving work".
Every time the Watchtower spews that phrase, it can be turned around like this:
Me: "Well, according to today's text it sounds like the Slave Class is reinforcing the idea that ONLY JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES will survive Armageddon."
JW relative: "Why do you say that?"
Me: "Well, what does it mean when the Watchtower says that our preaching is a 'Lifesaving Work' ?"
JW relative: "Uh, well, I suppose, (drags toe around in sand), uh, that lives, uh, are being, uh,... saved, you know?"
Me: "If it's a lifesaving work, it means that when Joe Hard-Working Neighbor, husband, father of three, member of the PTA, soccer coach, etc. answers the door and says 'No Thank You' to a JW Bible Study, he's signing a death warrant for himself and his little kids."
JW relative: "No. You're taking that too far. Jehovah is the judge."
Me: "Yes, that's true, but when it comes to people in general, if it's a 'lifesaving' work it means that, IN GENERAL, people who DON'T listen aren't going to survive. Or, do you think that a substantial portion of non-JWs might actually survive Armageddon?"
Then drop it. Seed planting is done for today.

i saw another bush '04 bumper sticker today and it got me thinking about bumper stickers!!!.
you know that jws go door-to-door but how many people do they really reach?
we drive tons of cars and could reach people every day with a simple message and a link to a website like this.
Adding to Wallflower's sticker:
"Back off JWs. I'm an Apostate!"
I wonder what percentage of JWs would gladly key the side of an apostate's car if they were sure they wouldn't get caught?

what is in the confidential file?
today i uploaded a new article to my blog addressing what is in the confidential file archived by watchtower judicial committees.
reportedly courts have ordered the content of these files handed over to lawyers and all they got was an s-77 form.
In addition to the S-77 form, it should include any hand-written notes taken by the 3 kangaroos on the Judicial Committee. I've seen anywhere from one to three sets of notes go in the envelope. I've never sat on a JC where at least one of us wasn't at least scribbling down the main pieces of info. I probably sat on about a 12-15 JCs.

apologies if this has already been discussed, but saw this on the fb jehovahs witnesses, new, library, history page and wondered if anyone knew anything about it or has any idea what it could be about.

Governing Body "Overlap Tour 2011", Northern California update:
I have received confirmation from elders in six different congregations, spanning 3 Northern California counties.
NO ONE in any of these six scattered congregations has received an invitation.
My first thought was that the 3 assembly halls serving this area (Yuba City, Fairfield and Fremont) were already booked for those weekends?
But now I don't think so. JWs are usually better organized when it comes to this kind of thing.
Has anyone else heard of any invitations going to Nor Cal congregations?
This is so discouraging that I think it might put a damper on my meeting attendance.

i do.. .
how about you?.
om.
So White Dove, do you remember the actual "naughty words" uttered?
